Vibrating Massage Roller – Releasing your ITB

Releasing your ITB

ITB is such a common pain point in athletes. But as a reminder, the ITB runs from the Iliac crest down the lateral side of the quad and inserts below the knee on the tibia.

It is responsible of lateral stability and maintains tension between the hamstring and the quad.

To complete the exercise place assume a lying position and place your one leg over the other for stability.

Roll the bottom leg over the Vibrating Massage Roller. As you roll remember that it is not a straight roll but rather the leg rotates  while rolling -from top to bottom and from in to out.

This rolling is going to hurt especially at the extremities close to the origin and insertion. In the middle areas it will release.

Find the spots where it hurts and hold still in these areas. Deep breathing will help the process of release in these moments.

Breathing as a point of assistance to muscle release is very important. Also, the intensity of the vibration can also impact the release. Allow the level of pain to dictate the intensity of the vibration.
